When someone has experienced sexual trauma this can lead to difficulty regulating the nervous system (think fight/flight/freeze response) and an increase in anxiety and depression. People who have experienced sexual assault are more likely to have general chronic pain, chronic pelvic pain, GI disorders, and sexual dysfunction. These are all very real, physical symptoms.
